MG MGF Technical - Have you had it off yet?
I posted a report on spare wheel/rusting bolt ect.20/8. Has any one had this problem? Paul... |
PAUL. HINDLE. |
No - I remove my spare regularly anyway, but the service agents, Swain and Jones grease the threads so this never becomes a problem. |

Rob. If I am the only on I would be very surprized. Paul... |

Yes, I agree Paul - a good heads up. Not all MGR dealers are as good as the ones I've used in the past (Sewards nr Bournemouth and Swain and Jones in Farnham). |

Paul, Found that mine was beginning to rust (2001 VVC) when I had a blow-out a couple of months ago, so I greased the threads when I got home! Chris |

In a similar area, I found that I could not remove my front wheels with car only about 6 months old due to the corrosion between the alloys and the wheel. When I finally did get them off I used Copper grease to ensure the problem did not occur again. Good job I didn't have a puncture. |

Paul, how old is the car ? A well known problem at early MGF in any way. There was an official bulletin, I think already in 1997. They forgot to grease the bolt. Should be done by factory since that time. Dieter |
