MG MGF Technical - Heater Resister Pack

Hi Guys,

Can anyone please help.

I have just bought a 'heater resister pack' as my heat control was only working on settings 3 & 4.

Can anyone explain how to fit the little bugger ? Is it too difficult for me I wonder ?

I don't think that it is too difficult Rich - but this isn't a job that I've performed. Have a look on Dieter's web site (http://www.mgfcar.de/heater/heater.htm) - I think that there are some good clues there on how to perform this job: it should be pretty simple :o)

Deiter's site has full fitting instructions, unfortuanely his address is on my home PC and I ain't at home. Hopefully someone else will be along shortly with the details you need.

If you do not have air con then fitting the resister pack should be well within the scope of the enthusiastic ameteur. If you have air con however it is a complete bugu and should be left to your local MGR garage as it involves removing and then refilling the air con just to get at the resister pack!

Cheers

Been meaning to do this job for months myself Richard! Out of interest:

- Where did you get the resistor pack from?
- Do you have a part number handy?
- Do you mind me asking how much the part cost?

Thanks in advance,
Jim

Not hard to change at all - see http://homepage.ntlworld.com/tim.jenner/p996kvx.htm#blower_resistor

I changed one a couple of weeks ago and yes it is simple and cost about £23 from a MGR dealer. Have no part no. on me will look when I get home.

You need to remove the glove box and the heater cold air pipe and then it is simple as it is the only thing with wires attached on the side of the heater unit.

Takes about half an hour from start to finish if that.

£23 Tom !?!?!?!?!

I'm sure I paid less than a fiver!

ps. 10 minutes and some fiddling. Easy job.

Got the invoice in front of me and the resistor pack part no. RJGM100060 cost £22.52 inc vat.

I was shocked when I bought it as was told about a £10.

If one of the coils has burnt out you could try soldering the two halves back together...
