MG MGF Technical - Help Drivers Door Locked

I closed my drivers door and walked away the alarm went off which hasnt happened before, and now I cant unlock the door.We cant take the panel off to look as we cant open the door. Can get in from top down window, but cant see anything that doesnt look right.Wondered if it was electrical as the indicators dont flash when I reset alarm.

Hi Corrine,

Silly question....but I assume you have tried the key in the lock, rather than the remote?

Oh yes, and the knob to lift up is not completely slack, but has no substance to it. I have also noticed that when I double lock now the indicator lights dont flash.

Hah !

This happened to me today ( alarm didn't go off though )
Drivers door jammed, It unlocks with both key and remote - but immediately locks itself again. The inside lever ( driver's side )is floppy and won't do anything.
If I'm quick, I can get out the passenger side, but it's not very dignified !

It happened last year too. I had the AA out..he pumped it up with a rubber bag and fiddled with his tool..nothing..then squirted loads of lube down past the window...

nothing..

wandered off to make a call..came back..I clicked the remote AND EVERYTHING WAS FINE. We opened and shut it a few times - all normal.
Should I get it checked ?..no,no it seems ok now..

I forgot all about it, UNTIL NOW !

Guess what, I forgot I couldnt open the door, and went to open from the inside and the door opened. Must have gremlins. After everyone trying to take door apart, and fiddling with it to no avail.

AA man has just left.

Again...loads of lube ( not wd40) took a while to soak through. got the door open. stripped out the inner panel and poked about.
It was water in the connectors and in the lock.

Maybe yours dried out by itself...
