MG MGF Technical - Help needed for small but annoying problem

Does anyone know where I can get the small plastic rear view mirror mount that glues to the windscreen for an MGF rear view mirror please?
Kim

I think that they are bonded to the glass and actually come with the windscreen. It's wedge shaped and the mirror just slides over it until it's tight. If I were you I'd ask at an Xpart dealer to see if you can get one. If not see if you can get one off a scrapped MGF or TF and if all that fails have a look at someone else's car and make one. It'll be hidden so it doesn't have to look perfect. I might also try one of the windscreen replacement companies to see if they can help.

Wasn't the mount changed circa 98 ? I remember the old mount gave a shakier rear mirror view.

Hi Kim,

yes its a small little pad which is sticky on both sides, like double sided sticky tape.

You should be able to get it from the old Rover dealers, if they still exist. Mine changed to a Vauxhall garage but they still service MG's and if I recall it was about 80p for the pad.

Slight confusion, ehhy ?

The rear window mount is made from aluminum casting
;-) Nit sure about any changes.
Assume it is EDP5642 - Slug-windscreen mirror fixing
Slide on to the mirror mount holder back.
(not shown here, but from memory it's a kind of *dovetail guide* )

Adhered of course to the window with either double sided self adhesive tape or glass2metal adhesive.
As David said, windscreen replacement companies will know how to get it back on, in case you have the slide part.

Dieter

Apology, found it at the MGOC side.

EDP5642 is shown on Dieter's excellent EPC site.
At £1:89 + P&P from Rimmer Bros., it is worth a try.
