MG MGF Technical - Help water in sills?

Hi,

Does anybody have any idea how I am getting water in my sills when the car has been sitting in heavy rain? There is enough to slosh about. :-(

The car is an 1998 F if that is of any help.

Thank heavens the thing has been well rust proofed.

Thanks, Andrew.

It’s not so much that the water is getting in but its not getting out. There are four drains under the sills close to the jacking points that need cleaning out with a screwdriver.

Thanks, I did not know about the drains at the jacking points. I'll give them a clean at the weekend.

Would it possible for someone to send a picture of these drain points? (or a really accurate description). Tried locating them a while back with no joy. Most likely staring right past them!

Well today armed with some wire I attacked the drain holes, which are in the openings at the jacking points.

And after doing so I would advise everybody to check them too. At lease 2 pints of water poured out from both sides front and back.

Thank heavens they have been rust proofed.

:-)

I had the same problem but spotted the drain holes in the end. One point though, while I was searching for the drain holes, I pulled back the front wheel arch liner and found a large amount of wet silt/soil behind it (low down directly in front of the sill). This was also holding water as the soil was acting as a plug slowing the process of the water draining from below the windscreen. I had always wondered why there was a damp patch by my front wheel, long after the ground had dried around the rest of the car!!

De ja vu.

Also discovered this today!
