MG MGF Technical - HGF improved my car!
Having got my car back yesterday after its HGF, I find that it is much smoother, quieter, faster and more responsive than before! Is this a normal post HGF experience? It had a new head and is a vvc with 32k. It feels great now. Alan

Alan, sounds as though you've struck lucky, and got a better head casting than the one you had previously! Great to hear such a positive silver lining! :o)

Your thread title reminds me .... lol. One of my Montego Turbos for a year or so had a slight head gasket problem which appeared mainly when sustained boost was used. In this condition for a period this otherwise standard engine felt more responsive and powerful than my others. I guess then there was coolant getting into the cylinders in such a way that it was somehow beneficial to the combustion process. Only a guess of course. When the head gasket was relaced (by me) the problem was cured 100% but now that engine is good, but never feels quite the same under sustained boost. Could be totally unrelated of course but still I wonder ....;-) JMcF
