MG MGF Technical - Hi from NZ

Weather today is great here in NZ - at the moment we are on our hotel room balcony looking out over Viaduct Harbour and just in front of us is the fantastic NZ boat that won the America Challenge cup back in 1984 (I think) the Yanks didn't like that one little bit.

Just to keep the *F* content going - we saw a very nice Amaranth *F* yesterday in central Auckland!

Hi Ted,

To keep the content:
Very misty wheater in germany right now, but i can see my TF looking out the window ;)

Hi Ted
Welcome to NZ... If you think your view there is great ?
Wait till you get to Taupo (middle of the north island)
I,ve seen at least five F's here :-)
MA Jenkins

Thanks folks!

Just getting ready to leave (it is 08.30 hours Saturday 14th here) and collect our camper van - will try and pretend it is a big *F*.

Not sure when we will be able to get on the net again but will try and keep in touch.
Ted Newman

Ted,
Best not(try to pretend it is a big F) if it is a Maui, those (esp S. Island) roads aren't quite as oversigned as ours!!!! Have a BALL (slowly) and do report progress for the rest of us wageslaves envying from afar.
Charles
PS Catch a trout for me - esp in Taupo.
C.R.B. Simeon

Hope you haven't been blown off the road yet Ted. If the boat that you were looking at was the one sitting on the wharf in a cradle, then this was the "Big Boat" that got creamed by the Yank's catamaran 3-0.
Chance

Hmm, I don't know where Chance, Walter has come from...

Hi Ted: perhaps you could ask some of the owners what brand of NZ coolant they recommend for an 'F' (standard stuff, not OAT)

And do they know the best place for a new rear silencer (muffler) again standard pattern part

from a Northland MGF owner in the Bay of Islands (3-4 locally in our town) and looking to do some maintenance. I have already installed lowering pins with my DIY Hydragas pump.

Charles, you could try Paul Walbran Motors.

Hi there again

Sorry I put this in 'technical' but....

Now into our second week with the camper and have had to do a couple of running repairs - minor things like getting the TV aerial to stay down and lubricating the locks on the water tanks.... end of technical!

Weather has been a bit mixed and today it has bucketed down - so we we went potholing and almost white water rafting!

The country is awesome and the people so friendly and helpful.

Tomorrow we are off to Rotorua where we shall meet Bob and Lois Wadsworth as well as see some 'stinking' hot water springs!

That's it for now - money in the meter is running out!

Hi all, Just had the pleasure of the company of Ted and Karin here in Rotorua. All too short of course, they are obviously enjoying the first part of their trip. Im amazed at their campervan, tv, computer, gps, etc, wonderful couple, great company, Lois and I wish they could have stayed longer, but, thems the breaks. Tomorrow they are off to Taupo, a lake resort 80km away from here. Then to Wellington. If any "f ers" are thinking of taking the plunge down under dont hesitate to let us know. Cheers Bob.

Just getting geared up for the Classic Marathon starting tomorrow in Hamilton. So 40 odd MG's will be turning up in Taupo at around 5pm I would say, descending on the Lakeland Resort motel, 282 Lake Terrace (about 3km south of the town center), where about 20 cars will be staying, for dinner. Others will be staying close by I would guess. Out yellow TF will be at the motel across the road. If you are still in Taupo on Saturday evening please drop by and have a chat Ted.

Cheers,
Neil Courtney

PS. is anyone having trouble with their names after logging in to the BBS? This time, I am masquerading as Rodney Patrick. I logged on just now and it said Welcome Mr Courtney, click on the BBS link and I am now Rodney.

Hi Neil,They left for Taupo about 9. this morning.I dont think they will get your post in time, is it possible you could ring around the campervan parks in Taupo tonight to see if they are booked in? They like the TOP TEN ,company which specialises in campervans. Off memory there is only about 3 or 4 parks anyway. They would be right into your offer. Teds cellphone wasnt crash hot when we tried it here so the best way is for the camp manager to forward a message. Cheers Neil, and good luck.
