MG MGF Technical - Hood Cleaning

Hi,
I have a 1999 MGF and the hood is looking a bit sorry for itself - a couple of stains on it and a bit of fading. I've been looking for something to clean it with and tried a few products with not much sucess. I've seen a product by Renvo(?) which claims to restore the hoods original colour etc. Anyone had any exprience with this ?

Thanks for your help.

I use good old fashioned soap flakes. Trust me, they work a treat & take stains out without any bother at all. A few flakes, some water & rub it in to a lather with your finger.

woody .....renvo works . because my hood is down so much it looks like s*** as the dirt gets trapped and there are 2 local birds (feathered type) that enjoy using the ' f' as a bog. so yes get it . main point ,when using the black coat use brush strokes that go fully over the width of the roof in one go. if you are short a****like me stand on a box. you can have uneven marks if you dont but there is enough to do it twice...take your time........ gerry

Woody,
check out Renovo web site. http://www.renovointernational.com/

or you can get the stuff from your local saab dealer.

I agree with the comments on Renovo. BUT wear old clothes and don't get spots on your paint or rear window. They take ages to get off! The finish is great. You can order it online from Renovo.

Great thanks for the info - ordered some today.

Yeah, the renovo stuff is great, and it re-proofs the hood.

Quikstu, pardon my ignorance but what the hell are soap flakes?

I presume he means Lux Flakes at least that we call them in Australia but they might be known under a different brand name. They're just flakes of soap really which dissolve in water. Some folks use them for washing woollen jumpers and delicates when machine washing is not suitable.
