MG MGF Technical - Hotshot

Can't remember when but there was a discussion not so long ago about heated washer jets and someone mentioned the Webasto Hotshot. Well did a quick search on eBay and found one for £50 which was a bit cheaper then the heater jets so decided to go for it. Finally got it fitted this weekend and have to say its a top toy! Works very well and its very odd having warm water coming out of the washer jets........spent a good few minutes after I got it working just spaying my hand! Anyway if anyone is considering the heated jets then I would recommend this as an alternative, especially in light of the monster winter we're now going to have ;-)

James, thanks for the comments.

ChrisT over on mg-rover.org has just fitted his last week and is also quite pleased. May be the mod for me after I get the TF back from the body shop today.

Well OK, after XPower lowering kit.

Hi James

We must have been fitting our Hotshots around the same time, as John has said I am pleased with it and the kit in general. As a matter of interest were did you mount the unit, I put it next to the washer bottle, and have you removed the non return valve close to the washer jets?

C Tideswell

I mounted mine down next to the washer bottle too, seemed like the best place. Installation was really easy I thought probably a lot more so then on a car that has the engine in the way!
Took off the one way valve near the washers and placed the one that came with the kit in between the washer bottle and the unit, also used the pipe that came with the kit to replace the one already on the car as it had become partially blocked.
I was a little worried that there is no feed to sense whether the ignition is on or off however the current sensing seems to work well and the hotshot turns off a minute or so after the engine is.

Any chance of a link to the product?
