MG MGF Technical - How2 unzip rear window!
I have just received my hardtop and though I don't intend to use the hardtop until winter, I understand that it's probably a good idea to unzip the rear window during colder months to reduce damage. I can figure out the zip but how do I seperate the screen at the bottom? Not overly technical but after a two minute look see I gave up! Thanks |

You unzip it and place it flat on the rear shelf before folding the soft top. Another tip is to use some rag to protect the soft top from being rubbed by the frame at the knuckle joints. These can wear the fabric into a hole over a long period |

Errm you dont, just lie it flat(ish) and do the popers up to the tbar. If leaving it down over winter then a fleece cover to go over and under the (clean) screen is advised- one can be brought from Mike, called a screensaver (althouh you could no doubt get a length of soft material somewot cheaper localy) Will |

The other M&S do BRG towels at a very good price. Protect the window, mop up the leaks, stop legs burning on the leather etc etc |

Will - they also do a nice dark blue |

Yep, zipper at the top, velcro down each side and the bottom of the screen is riveted to the hood frame. Therefore you can undo three of the four sides and lay the screen reasonably flat on the parcel shelf. To replace the screen you need to drill out and replace the rivets as this is the only way of seperating it from the hood frame. Hood tips can be found on the MGF FAQ: >> http://www.dotcomoff.demon.co.uk/ << SF |

Thanks guys, did this action last night and laid the screen as flat as you can on the rear shelf, using some material to protect the screen. Since MGF ownership I have been polishing the screen with autoglym to recover it and remove the scratches from its life with the previous owner. Hopefully overtime this will prevent me having to replace the screen. |
