MG MGF Technical - I know, I know....
My F is due a service now but the dealer can't take it for another three weeks. In that time i will put another 1200 miles on the clock so I want to top up the oil. Can anyone give me a recomendation on what oil to use? Sorry for asking this question, I know it's been asked a million times before. Cheers, Shane. |

Have a look in the handbook...? |

Thanks.. But I have no hand book. |

All cars should have a handbook, get a replacement from your dealer. (Rover actually sent me an English one to replace my German one FOC). Another idea - dealers often put a label on the oil dipstick to say what oil they've used at the last service - check for that first. |

So it's not ok to mix oils then? |
Shane |
Ignore all this unhelpful advice and use a quality 10/30 (or similar) oil. Oils mix and it will be changed in three weeks anyway |

Thanks Brian. Will do. |

You can safely mix a lot of oils, but for choice I'd always use the same. |

I can't see anything unhelpful about suggesting that he get a handbook (possibly FOC anyway) or check what oil he already has. Some oils do not mix. |
