MG MGF Technical - Internal Door Handle

I tried to get out of my MGF this morning and for the first time the drivers side internal door handle did not work, it just seems that it is not connecting with the locking mech. Has any heard of this prob and know what i could do to fix?
Thanks
p sutton

There is a short cable that runs from the inside of the handlle to the door lock.

Remove the plastic hand-grip from the door - 2 screws.

Remove the plastic surround to the door handle itself - 1 screw behind the lever.

Remove 1 screw above and to the left of speaker, and 2 screws on the outer edge of the door trim, adjacent to the lock.

Gently lever the door trim away from the door around the bottom edge of the door.

You should then see if the cable has just come loose or has snapped.

Thanks for this Tony.

Do you know if they are expensive and easy to fit?

just a couple more questions whilst i have an expert...

The passenger electirc window, winds down fine but seems to stick on the way back up and needs a gentle hand back up, had a look in the door but couldnt see anything.

Also thinknng of selling the MGF but me being so un organised i have lost the service book with the few stamps it had in. would this affect the value massivly? it is p reg 1996 1.8i

Thanks for all your help

Paul,
Call the MGF centre at Wolverhampton on 01902 403045, you shouldn't need to go anywhere else.

Cheers Adrian,

Would you know anything about the other questions aswell?

If you say that the window seems to operate freely, by giving a small pull, it sounds to me like a motor, that is why I suggested the MGF centre, they will probably have a secondhand motor.

My door lock went the same way, my auto elec fixed it by using plastic ties and relocating the cable a 15min job. MGR could nopt supply a new internal lock but in the UK with all the wreckers you should find a good secondhand one.
