MG MGF Technical - Is there an Electric Hood?

Hi,
can you get an electric hood for an 97MGF? If so is it just a motor fit or a complete change? Is it an easy fit?
B Smith

I purchased and fitted an electic hood 8 years ago to my 1997 MGF. Expensive, a waste of money and the design of the brackets connecting hood to the hydraulics badly designed and flawed (too weak to take the forces). Don't do it!
Julian

Well that has changed my mind, thanks Julian,

Hi Brian. If you look on ebay they are selling a power hood kit for about £300.Do not no what it is like though.Mick.

Leave it out. But if you can't resist, then have a look to some hints here, Special on the *very own* designed brackets.

I was told by people who tried it that it is a lot of money, does not work properly and that anyhow you still have to use your hands to have the hood in place either way. So the advice given here seems sound: stay away from it!

Yes hi guys.
I just wanted to say that the electric hood is a waste of time. You have to stop in any case to put it up, so what's the diference. However, here in the good old RSA, land of braaivleis, sunshine and ...MG, we hardly ever need to put erect it as we have continous great weather. Really a Top's Down country.
