MG MGF Technical - KEY FOB

Could any one tell me how to get a new key fob programmed to my car. I have ordered one from ebay and need to no if it is a dealer job to syncronise the remotes in order for it to work.
Paul

Don't you just stand beside the car with the doors unlocked and keep pressing the lock button repeatedly until the car wakes up and recognises it? I seem to recall it took about 4 presses to "see" mine. Someone tell Paul if this is complete rubbish, please.

You need to find a garage with a T4 (diagnostics computer), also make sure that the new fob has the correct bar code/code number. The alternative is to get a new fob from someone like www.remotes4cars.co.uk

Also make sure you have the right fob for your age of car. The new style rounder fobs are not compatable with the older Lucas alarm system fitted to older cars, and vice versa. So make sure the one you are buying is the same type as your current one.
Both types of fob need programming by the dealer as they have to be matched to the alarm ECU.

Mike, thats what you do if you change the battery, but with a new fob it will need programming first, or you will be stood next to the car all day ;o)
Steve White

remotes4cars (thnx Chris) do, I beliee, offer a by post service for theit fob programmer - provided you get the new key & fob from them. They also do a range of colours to match your car. Only for the F so far, TF not serviced.
John Ponting

I ordered the correct coded remote so it is the same as my other one.
Paul

In this case you need to visit a garage with the mentioned T4, called *Testbook*.

I'm sorry, but like to hijack the thread regarding something I found recently by coincidence.
:o)

Notice:
My son owns an old NISSAN MICRA 1100, MY 1995 (approximate)
The key fob from this car is the same PC Board inside like the old design 3TXA from MGF.

Markings on the crystal, IC, PCB, sticker. All the same !!!
The housing is just slight different shape longer with NISSAN letter mark on the front half and
LUCAS 3TXA on the rear.

I'm pretty sure it will work at old MGF.
Anyone out there who could source a second hand and try this ?
(Will supply pictures later for comparison)

Regards
Dieter
PS. Assume, other NISSAN from that make year range may have aswell the 3TXA blipper.
Dieter

bump

No volunteer for the NISSAN blipper ?
Dieter
