MG MGF Technical - Lee Tyres
I've just read Lee's thread about his experience with the 'Lee' tyres. My 96 VVC has one of these at the back and one NCT5 (it was like this when I bought it!) and the handling's nothing short of scary! Would it be a good idea to replace the Lee with another NCT5 so the rears match? There's loads of tread on both but frankly I'd rather live to see my next birthday than save a few quid!

Did you buy the car from a dealer? If so get them to change the tyre FOC. If not then YES get it changed ASAP - scary I would think is a mild description. Ted

It would be an excellent idea to match the tyres on each 'axle'. A full matching set is the ideal, but both rears should match and so should both fronts. Steve

I posted on here last week about purchasing a couple of Lee tyres for the back of my VVC. Basically I needed to save some money and felt confident that being owned and made by Goodyear in the UK it would OK to use Lee. It wasn't, it was very scary and after two weeks returned to the tyre dealer who replaced them with NCT 3's which cost about £65, the handling and road holding is now back to being excellent. Not sure but I thought that the MGR recommendation is for NCT 3 not NCT 5, though I have now idea what difference this will make.

I think you will find that the NCT3 is no longer made and the NCT5 is its official replacement. Ted

Thanks everybody, I'll go get it replaced.
