MG MGF Technical - Let's do the time warp again......

Odd one this which I just know will spawn a whole tidal wave of Einsteinian replies or references to a heavily modified DeLorean, but...
The clock in my car has taken to losing about one hour in every 48. Always been spot on up til now. Ideas?

Must be the acceleration!!

You asked for it

Since the movement will be quartz, it is more likely to be running intemittently than losing. This suggests electrical connection problems
Brian

>Since the movement will be quartz<

Are you joking? The *F* was designed and built by Rover - every clock is worked by a Trade Union Official - it is slow in the mornings and fast in the evenings.

Hmm, well I was going for the loose wiring idea myself and relishing weeks of chasing some loose connection or dry joint somewhere but....
Went to use the car today, clock was wildy out as usual lately. Reset it to the correct local time and drove for approximately one hour in total.
Despite the coarse calibrations of the clock, it had appeared to lose roughly 3 minutes in roughly one hour.
Now, you may recall I said originally it was losing roughly one hour every 24, which corroborates with 3 mintues in every hour ie:
3 x 24 = 72 which is roughly one hour give or take a bit.
So the question still remins why is it running slow? Also the back light still works which although not conclusive would suggest intact wiring.
Bob

Without checking, I assume that the back light only works with the sidelights on and is therefore a different cicuit to the clock power.

For it's just a jump to the left
And then a step to the right
Put your hands on your hips
And bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane...

I had a serious problem with time in my F after it went in for a service. Time only passed when I had the lights on. The backlight, however, was on permanently. The dealer (guess who) had connected the clock up incorrectly.

Yeah I know the back light is independently powered, I was just commenting that it would suggest the portion of the loom at the back of the clock and the clock/loom connection is ok.
