MG MGF Technical - MGF TF alloy wheels

hi every body, Im looking at buying a set of 17" alloy wheels and have seen a set of 17" MGF TF alloy wheels but I need to know the wheel of set on these rims and also the rim width as I would like to fit 215/40/17 tyres to them. The numbers on the back of the wheel say ,32,and B103. Any Ideas as to what this means. Thanks in advance for your help
Matt

MG don't make 17" wheels for the MGF or TF, so are you sure they'll fit? The PCD will need to be 95.25mm or you'll need to get a set of adapters from the likes of Mike Satur (www.mieksatur.co.uk/fx05.html).

Some aftermarket suppliers do make wheels in the correct fitment for the MGF/TF. Do you know who makes the ones you are looking at?

Cheers

Ian

sorry no I dont, i believe they are being sold by a chap from the midland mgf centre, they have 15 spokes with mg centre caps. Ive sadly at the moment have little info on them to go on.... I was under the impression they were made by rover.
matt

They sound more like Z series wheels not F/TF.
JohnP

or could they be Monzas?
JohnP

If they're being sold by Midland MGF, I would expect that they can tell you whether they are a direct fitment or not.

How much is he looking for - Mike Satur sells 17s that fit directly for £675 including tyres...
Ian Matheson

Ive got a sinking feeling they are of one of the mg Z's like you say John, the seller clear states they are MGF TF 17" alloy wheels though, but they do look very much like the Z's alloys. Will keep you guys posted and thanks
matt

Possibly, they have 15 spokes:

Not sure whether they come as a direct fitment or whether you need adapters...
Ian Matheson

I meant, they could possibly be Monza's!

I think the 17" 'straight' spokes on the Zs are 11-spoke as well...
Ian Matheson

Yes that appears to be them, I hope to speak to the seller tonight to learn a little more about them as they will be costing over £400. cant really afford to get it wrong really!!
Matt

If they're over £400 without tyres, I'd definitely be considering Mike Satur's direct-fit wheels...

Thats a really good website, I will try Mike Satur if these wheels turn out not to be right,
matt

The wheels are probably from Milia Miglia, check the web site(?)
mike

The alloy wheels im loking at are apparently made by a company called Racing Dynamics, Im unable to find their telephone number though to ask them some questions as the guy who has got them doesnt know much about them, They did come of an MGF but he doesnt remember if there were any adaptors on the car when removing them. Its of a crashed MGF. Can anyone shed any light onto what these wheels are or the Telephone number of the company or is it a brand within a company???
Matt

Not heard of Racing Dynamics, but there is a brand of wheels called 'Team Dynamics' that are made by Rimstock ( http://www.rimstock.co.uk )
These are definitely available in an MGF fitment as they are sold by Moss in both 15" and 17" sizes for the F/TF see - http://www.moss-europe.co.uk/MossUK/ProductList.aspx?SubSubCategoryID=MGF_UMGF197
Steve White

google for racing dynamics and you will be inundated with hits.

One with a distributer phone # is http://www.unixnerd.demon.co.uk/bmwres.html

JohnP

Why don't you try asking the guy at Midland MGF to try fitting them to an F/TF? That way, he'll be able to tell you if an adaptor is required...

Ian Matheson

I have a feeling that Duncans wheels are by Racing Dynamics. Are these them

Phil Brindley

Yes, that appears to be them Phil, I will ask the guy to try fitting one to a hub to check the PCD, as the details on these wheels is quite low, Still no idea on the Offset either or rim width.
THANKS GUYS, YOUR HELP IS INVALUABLE
Matt

Phil, you dont by any chance know the offset and rim width, of Duncans wheels??
Matt

I don't I'm afraid. He reads the BBS though,

DUNCAN....DUNCAN.....OI POTTY MOUTH! YOU READING THIS!?!

That might attract his attention.
Phil Brindley

Oi there's a kiddies bike parked outside! To be honest not sure of the offset Phil. I know I'm not much help. The 17's are now resting under Jon Davies wheel arches now as I have his 16" Trophy's on mine. Phil, You going to the Silverstone trackday?

Duncs.
DJC Dorrell

To clear up any doubt the Racing Dynamic wheels do fit straight on to the MGF as long as they are the ones for the MGF.
DJC Dorrell

Well I bought the wheels, Tyres are almost brand new. Collect tommorow. The tyres are 205/40/17. Im looking to fit 215/40/17 to the rims, hence no longer needing these new tyres, Not sure what make the tyres are ( something king??) does anyone fancy making an offer on these tyres?? i will also still try and track down the wheel offset for these wheels for future reference for every one. Thanks for every ones help, I will see for my self now these weheels can do.
Matt

Hello Mat,
I would still recomend 205/40's as I had 215's on the rear of mine when I first had the wheels and they tracked the road like a b*****d. Go for a set of Yokahama A539's. Mine stuck to the road very well along with doing track days. Good luck.
DJC Dorrell

<<Not sure what make the tyres are ( something king??)>>

Nanking possibly?

Why are you wanting new tyres if the ones on the wheels are almnost brand new?
Ian Matheson

Thats the name Nanking, The tyres are the wrong type as its meant for track days. looking for falken tyres 215/40/17. The car is fully adjustable hence no worries with tracking. I was looking at selling the tyres to pay for the Falkens rather than trashing a new set of tyres as the tyres need to be buffed really.
Matt

Dunc Said :

What he said !!

Ive had the car with this set up on for a week now works great dry or wet, each to there own though!

Jon (NSE 81V )

Jon,
Do you think they are better than the F1's in your opinion? Just curious.

Cheers,
Duncs.
DJC Dorrell

The tyres are not as in good nick as previously told. so will use em myself for time being. The alloy wheels were racing dynamics, they appear to be 6.5" rim width hence not really able to accept a 215/40/17 tyre. The offset is 32mm on them and weight with tyre 18.1kg, this is 2.6kg heavier than the six spoke 16" MGF rims with tyre. so they are the same as Duncans wheels. Thanks for every ones help on this thread.

Matt
