MG MGF Technical - MGF VVC Exhaust Camshafts

As part of my quest to squeeze more power out of my F VVC I have been thinking about camshafts. I want to keep the VVC mechanism but have heard that Piper (?) do an improved exhaust cam that does not adversely effect driveability but does improve performance. Any one know any more?

Piper do a 1326 profile which is squeezed onto the standard shaft, it is similar to the 633 profile (264 degrees, up from 252) but has slightly less lift than the 633. It is available in their catalogue as the VVCBP270, I have been sing them for 5 or 6 years or so in my 175BHP VVC upgrade kit.

No David, they are regrinds.

I can confirm a (ported & flowed) VVC has a big benefit from this camshaft.

Aah I see, didnīt know they were regrinds; would be a nice upgrade for an mpi though 2 vvc exhaust cams. not?

Would there be any benefits on an otherwise standard TF 160 VVC? Does it affect driveability?

I have VVC camshafts if any one is interested, unsure as to the state of them, will find the photos. Cost of shipping from New Zealand probably be prohibitive though :(

Also, filter upgrade (preferably in cold air box) and the larger throttle body may help you get that little more power...

Grinding off the weld inside the exhaust is supposed to be good, although I haven't done it. It goes without saying that you need to reweld the outside as well.
