MG MGF Technical - Need advise on wiper assy spare part

Hi,

I managed to dismantle the outer wiper cover grill today to install the GPS aerial to a *hidden* location.

OK, it's well kown a difficult work. Not easy cause on the left and on the right are hidden brackets holding the wiper cover grill under the glass window. I think Tony T. has instructions on his webside.
Mine was broken at the left already, due to idiots works at a former DE MGR dealer. Some may recall they had killed my wiper motor aswell three years ago.

However, that's not a problem, but .....

I saw differences between both wiper drive sides after works start with taking off the wiper arms.
On one side was a kind of seal pipe installed and on the other this part is missing. (see pic below)

First quest is
Should there be both sides covered, or not ?

Second is
Please can anyone out there help on identification this part ?

The only probably fitting P/N number I found from description was:
DCP4918 Cap-windscreen wiper spindle, for app 2 quid :(
But no picture :(
Could aswell be the long plastic cap mounted on one of the wiper arms ?

At last, I'd be pleased if anyone has one of this Pipe seal parts for sale :)))

Thank You
Dieter
PS. *MoD* thinks the missing of this seal could damage the wiper arm bearing ;)

Could it be P/N DLD100100. DCP4918 is the cap that can be taken off to remove the wiper arm.

:o)
Thank You. Must be the right.
So has anyone got a DLD100100 Seal for wiper linkage joint laying around ?

@ Johan,
you asked for front fog templates recently to do the cut at the new bumper.
I think I'll have them availiable in next week and can lean them to you if you haven't found another solution.
Dieter K.

Dieter, the templates would be much appreciated. A paper copy would do nicely though.

Fog templates should be back with Dieter today - post permitting Johan. If not, I made a paper template from them which could be loaded onto the 'net as required...
Rob Bell

For the templates I think this would be the easiest way to distribute these. Maybe more people need them in the future.

This with all the speed bumps in mind

Hi, someone should try the paper copy template at first and compare the result with the original plastic.

@Rob, parts arrived today.
Big thank you for the goody added 4me.
:))))))))))) Great quality. I like it.
(Off now for some hours ...) ;)

@Johan, see email.

arent the plastic items shaped to fit in the recess of the indicator when removed? I doubt paper versions do.

David,
they do fit to the indicator shape on top, and on the far bottom they are shaped as well. The two lower fixture drill locations ARE ALREADY in the bumper AND they are marked at the template.

BTW they are marked with P/N
RH VUR100060 and LH VUR100060

However, Parts can be shipped.

Back to the header.

I just had a discussion on the phone with a speciallist regarding MGF .....

Stop press regarding the missing second wiper shaft cover.

He said there is only one !!!
Whyever, the outer wiper arm shaft has no seal cover. It's official one only mounted below the centre wiper arm.

Anyway, I did a DIY seal cover from a piece of shrink hose already yesterday. Thin material shrinked with a lighter and cut with a scissor to the right height. Put a lot of grease under the part and pushed it on.
Wiper arm bolt on and it works well.

Regards
Dieter

Good to hear that all the parts arrived in tact Dieter! :o)

>>arent the plastic items shaped to fit in the recess of the indicator when removed? I doubt paper versions do.<<

Absolutely right David. Using the moulded template is infinitely preferable. The paper template should only be used where there is no alternative - especially as the template does not fit onto a single sheet of A4... :o( The way that I've done it is to make each template out of two separate sheets of A4, using the fog lamp hole as a point of common reference.
