MG MGF Technical - New wheel nuts
The wheelnuts on my 1997 F have all started to fall apart! The thin aluminium outer has become detached from the nut within it on all the non-locking nuts. Spoke to my local MGR dealer, who says that they're in need of replacement (fair enough, I suppose) and that he'd like to charge me 9 pounds PER NUT. When you multiply that by the 12 nuts I need, you'll see why I'm on here asking if there's an alternative. Are the nuts a standard size? Will Halfords be able to supply me with something (I'm not massively worried about appearance, especially of something so basic as a wheelnut) at a slightly more reasonable price? Cheers, Jamie

Jamie, I bought wheel nuts from thr MGF Centre (01902 403 045)for £2.00 + VAT each. They are not new but are far better than the ones I took off. Olly

Don't quote me but ... I seem to remember that nuts from a Ford fit, including the locker - was it a Granada?

Also, Halfords sell locking wheel nut sets that fit the F.

| I've had exactly the same problem. A few days ago saw a set of 16 brand new chrome nuts on Ebay for Rover cars. Emailed the seller, who assures me they are ideal for the MGF. My Dad collected for me, so I haven't seen them yet, although he says they look pretty good. Anyway, my point is that they only cost £15 for the whole set, and I think he may well have some more. In case you are interested, his details are as follows (although as I've said, I haven't tried to fit them yet, so only have his word they will be OK): Dave Cooling dncooling@aol.com 01926 612717 07710 283880 Hope this helps you out!
