MG MGF Technical - Non working clock

I have had an 1998 MGF for two weeks and the clock has just stopped working. I have checked fuse 12 and it is intact. Does any one know how to easily remove the clock for checking connections or does any one know if it may be down to something else? Any comments/assistance offered greatly accepted.

Clocks on the F and TF seem to have a mind of their own. Some go slow. Some go fast. Some stop and it's even been known for them to go backwards. Before you do anything drastic try disconnecting the power from the clock for 5 or 10 minutes. You can do this by taking the fuse out or taking the centre cold air vent out (which will allow access to the back of the clock) and removing the power connections for it. It might not work, but in a lot of cases it does.

David. Thanks for your advice I will try it in the next couple of days and hopefully it will work. Once again thanks.

I have the same problem and my oil temperature gauge is not reading at the same time..

Nice knowing I'm not the only one with derranged clock in my F. I even had it removed and gave it to a clocksmith but nothing happened. His verdict was "dust inside" and being stupid enough I paid 40euros... Still runs slow - great fun though(...)with people entering my car and without knowing it shows wrong time they get stressed of being late if timming is right.

Is there anything else on the car that dosn't work like the courtesy light or problems with losing feed to the radio (ie: won't hold stations or having to re-enter the security code) If so, its probably a problem with the constant earth wire. It was on mine and it was an easy fix to bypass.

Hi.
Good to know that my slow ticking MGF clock is not the only one around....Then again, when you're cruising around in a great car like the MGF time is the last thing on your mind!
