MG MGF Technical - Oil Temp Sensor

Does anyone know where the Oil temp sensor is situated on the F ?
mikeyboy

yes, of course
Dieter K.

OK could you tell me where it is ?

Nice site by the way Deiter :-)
mikeyboy

LOL, nice you don't worry the mad joke ;)

Below at the oilfilter. Two of can be seen there.

One on the left (cut, though) the second dirtects downwards.

Need to look up for which relates to the ECU and which to the instrument.
Anyone ?
Dieter K.

I didn't realise the ECU monitors oil temp - is this the same for all MGF's or perhaps just the VVC ?
Russell Morgan

Thanks Dieter, I asked a silly question and got a silly answer, should have known. LOL

Now I'll let you in on a secret, I'm not an F owner its for a Zed. A ZS180 !! I want to fit a temp gauge on the Oil and the only suggestion for the sensor placement was to fit it in the sump, but i didn't fancy drilling holes in it !!.
The hope is I can adapt the method the F uses.

Wish me luck :-)

Cheers

Mikey

no decret, seen at the other Forum ;)

>method the F uses

See http://www.mgfcar.de/sensor/index.htm
Don't beleave it will work contacting parallel. You may need to replace the sensor.

I'm not sure but I think all sensors have the same thread.

Is it M10x1 ??? Anyone knowing ?
Dieter K.

Deiter I was thinking of using a capillary type gauge rather than electronic. But having looked over the ZS engine today there does not seem to be a sensor around the filter area that I could put a T-piece into, so back to the drawing board I'm afraid.

Perhap tap into a gallery, anyone know the KV6 unit, silly question in an F section I know ;)
mikeyboy

@Russell, you are right. MGF MEMS doesn't. Not the VVC and not the MPI.

The MG ZS has a KV6 engine.
From what I know the KV6 was used as well in the Rover 800.
Herein only the 2.5 KV6 engine management system used to read oil temperatur. Whyever.

Blue arrow directs to oil pressure switch and the red to the oil temp sensor GTR206 ... not availiable at the ZS.

The MGF K16 oil temp sensor and pressure switch installation is:

Just to let the thread not disappear without a decent end.

Dieter K.

Dieter, your a hero. Excellent info all round.
Did I say this somewhere else ;-)
