MG MGF Technical - Pedals

The other day I saw some very nice MOMO pedals for sale and thought hmmm, I'd like those. Before buying I thought I'd better have a look to see how I take off my old pedals. Finally last night I got around to taking a look and I was very suprised to find that the pedal plates seem to be welded to the arms. Does this mean that I can't fit different pedals to my Y plate MGF or do new ones tend to fit over my current pedals? I must say that I'm a little confused by this.

Am I being stupid or what? Any help by those that have performed this operation would be greatly appreciated.

By the way it is all three pedals that I want to change not just the accelerator.

Thanks,

Jodi

Mike Satur does some rather nice aluminium ones, check out the rebuild galleries on the SOS site for pictures.

They are a bit dirty in the picture, but you get the general idea. :-)

Talking about ssforever - any news on the insurance front yet?

Jodi, for fitting most pedals you either have a plate that fits around the pedal you can screw on (a la ms) or you can drill holes in your existing pedals and screw them in.

Spartech pedals (probably MoMo too) come with Allan screws and nuts to lock...but you need to drill pedals to fit;I have done this and can testify to hardness of pedal metal - use a sharp (or new) bit, and be prepared for it to be knackered afterwards...!
Blue Max

MS pedals require no drilling.

Ted, no news as yet (officially). :-(

I drilled my existing pedals to fit new covers. They look great but I agree with Blue, they are a nightmare to drill, you've got to have (several) very sharpe bits. Funny enough mine look like the ones that Mike sells, however if he can sell them with some system that doesn't require drilling then go for that everytime.

Thanks for the info. I shall investigate how the MOMO pedals are supposed to fit. If drilling is required I shall think hard before doing it.

Hi Jodi,
I got some sparco ones for my 'F'. The existing pedals had to be drilled through, but were so hard I ended up taking it to a freindly bodyshop, and crossing their palms with £20, to do it for me.It was well worth it too.

cheers
