MG MGF Technical - Problem with MS's Boxer 2 and Speaker

Hi
Yesterday i begun to install the Boxer 2 from Mike Satur, nice beam (really heavy, really strong), just the instruction could be a bit easier so at the end i could install the beam in the car but after that i got a real problem at "fix the speaker" step, my ALPINE (SXE-4625S 4"x6" (10x15cm) Coaxial 2-Way Speaker) cannot be fix to the beam because the magnet behind the speaker is touching the beam (the magnet is 7 cm in diameter, i think bigger than the original, if somebody who still has one could she/he tell me the size of it, thanks).
So my question is, did you install an other speaker than the original with this boxer and how did you do?
I think i will have to cut the beam or do you you know if mike has an other kind of beam.
Do you remember if your beam (when installed in the car) was flat because mine has an angle who is going in front the car.
thanks for your reply.

Hi, I fitted some more powerful rear speakers and they had larger magnets then the standard speakers, so had the same problem as you.
In the end using an angle grinder I cut a portion out of the corner of the beam to gain the required clearance.

Hi Steve
thanks for the reply
i also begun to cut the beam (pretty hard steel) but i didn't do the hole big enough and i didn't want to bug the neighbours with the noise a Sunday, so will do it bigger tomorrow, but tell me something did you fix the speaker in the plate or behind the plate, because my plate already touch the t-bar and if i fix the speaker in the plate, it will push the t bar in front.
Please could you also tell me something about the plate, do yours are in the middle of the speaker's grille or lower, because mine are lower than the grille, did you change something with the plate ?
thanks again for your comments

I'm sure your aware of this, but cutting the support bar for the hoops I would suspect reduce their effectiveness in an accident. I recall seeing a pic of a car that rolled and had mike's hoops, looked like they worked very well in a roll.

I know this is a bit late but an alternative idea would be to change the speakers? Put a decent set of speakers in the door and you'd probably be quite happy with smaller speakers in the t-bar.

I solved the problem some years ago by molding out the front of the T bar - the speakers then sat properly - no interference to the new beam. Dieter had some photographs of the job on hois wen site - can send them through if yo0ui want

I only have speakers in the door, i still need to find out how to put speakers in the T Bar. there are no holes yet

So I assume you´re talking about getting the doro speakers out. If you don´t have T-bar speakers, and your car is still OEM, then your door speakers do not have a trim around it and can easily be screwed off from the inside. remove door pull (2 bolts) remove door handle surround (1 screw) Undo door casing screws (3) and then light pull and lift over door pin.

Leigh, the subframe for the hoops is substantial, and IMO cutting a small area away would not have any detrimental effect of the structural integrity. I the case of mine, the portion cut out was no more then 1 1/2" wide and 1/4" deep.

Its also worth adding that Mike's hoops are sold as a styling accessory only, and are not specifically designed to offer any roll protection, though I too have seen to pics that show in some instances they may.

PAD, my speakers are mounted on the front of the bracket, not behind it.
I think my speakers sit lower then the grills in the T-bar. I also gave the beam a coat of paint when I have finished grinding, to stop it rusting.
