From Rob's site - http://www.mgf.ultimatemg.com/group2/suspension/tracking.htm

Might make you think twice about sticking to the 'standard' settings ;o)

Darren,
I'm currently running 0°5' toe in at the front and a little bit more on the rear (something near 0°10' I think) The car is much more stable at high speed and I have better feeling when cornering. Definately forget about the toe out at the front!

Hi Darren,

Depends what you're after, and what the other factors are. Reducing the front toe or going toe in rather than toe out will make your tyres last longer, particularly if the car sits lower than 'factory 4x4 mode'. Only downside is that crosswinds have more effect, but less so if you have a front splitter fitted. I run parallel rears and toe in at the front, but that's more a track setup and is a bit nervous on motorways that are less than glassy-smooth.

As Rob's page notes, having rear compliance washers or stiffer poly bushes makes a big difference, without them I'd be reluctant to stray too far from the standard rear settings in case you get undesirable characteristics.

Mike,
I found crosswinds more noticeable when I had toe out at the front compared to toe in now (no front splitter, no compliance washers for the moment) probably your toe 0° at the rear can explain the fact that you feel the crosswinds (AFAIK toe in at the rear provides more stability)

Darren, I haven't got much more to add - the guys have already said everything I would have said :o)

If you're asking for a set of figures, then perhaps 0 degrees front (parallel) and 10 minutes toe-in rear is the best for a car with other wise completely standard suspension, although I do rather like the car when a couple of minutes of angle are added to toe-in the front wheels... :o)
