MG MGF Technical - Radiator bleed screw leaking!

Just checked under the bonnet....green alien blood leaking from this point. I replaced the plastic 'bolt' as it wasn't tightening properly, just slipping( plastic screw in a shallow plastic thread!!!) This was done months ago however.

How tight should it be?

Should I get some thread lock or gasket seal liquid to stop it oozing?

I can see another HGF if it starts to slowly piss away coolant unknown to me, until it's empty and overheating. :-(

Charlie,

I note you are in the US, have you got an MGF over there? If so i am intrigued as to how you did it. :-)

Currently driving nicely, until I saw the dreaded green puddle today!

It should only be just tight enough to not leak (I know, sounds like the bleedin' obvious...). You could try PTFE tape before resorting to sealants which may make it difficult to remove later.

You already know you will get a HGF?

if so, you can make a fortune with selling the forecast.

HGF OCT 2001!

anyway, tried the drive/check for seepage/tighten/drive/check routine....(work is a convenient 10 min blast)

Seems to have stopped! PTFE tape not yet used, as it became acutely worse after I removed the nut to check the washer then repalced it.

Coolant topped up, seems ok so far

Thanks for the advice
