MG MGF Technical - RainX

Has anyone used this product? I have tried it on my business car and it seems to work very well in heavy rain...now considering applying to TF, but wonder if there are any residues or wiper damage issues that anyone knows of??

Yes it is Fantastic, but as it wears off the residue becomes very smeary, solution is to keep it topped up (and avoid using wipers as they wear it faster). Also dont be tempted to use it inside, it makes the screen fog up.

The same company make some stuff for the inside to stop misting up. work well but a bit of a b*gger to apply without smearing.

I agree with Will, RainX on the outside works well.

RainX works well on outside of bike visors but Little Chef Pink Soap is the best product for inside. Even better than the older remedies like a potatoe or spitting!

I wondered where all the pink soap from the little chef's was going !

So your the culprit John !!

PS I use RainX too. works pretty well, don't find i even need to put the wipers on in light rain !

I agree that Rainx works really well - however I do find that the screen is prone to condensation on the outside on cold mornings. I have to use the wipers for the first five minutes until the screen warms up.
Spent the winter months withhout Rainx and recently re-applied and instantly noticed the condesation problem re-appear.

Does anyone have any solutions to this? I am following the instructions to the letter.....

Thanks for info received so far...any idea on the re-coating time scale? Is it in weeks or months?? I guess it depends on usage of wipers and road conditions...

Bingo, but you can delay this by buying the little pink pills

which are available from halfords and called rainX top-up or something, youi add them to the screenwash.

I've used RainX on my F for the last 6 years and it works extremely well on the front windscreen. I've never had to replace the wipers in all this time (they are still in A1 condition) and so it does help reduce wear and tear on the wiper blades too. The rain just blows off the car at 40mph plus - so no need to use the wipers, except at slow speed.

It doesn't work on the rear glass screen of the hardtop though.....so it's only worth applying it to the front windscreen.

I also use RainX - AntiFog for the inside of the screen in winter time. This works too.
