MG MGF Technical - Relay Pin numbers

I have a Hella Seatbelt chime relay (with built in chime) which I want to wire into my MGF (which has the Japanese Seat belt warning light retro fitted).

Does anyone know what the the following pin designations mean which are on the relay please?
2, 31, 1, GF, 3, L, 15.

2 and 1 are mini connectors.
Julian

Pass - but Google is your friend :o)

The MGF circuit diagrams shows that the seat belt warming system is integrated with the ECU. I would suggest care with any modifications.

The pins you have provided appear to be special pins which belong to a electronic module rather than a relay alone.
Is this an after market unit?
Does it have any part numbers on it?
Branko

Unfortunately on this occasion Google offers up no help.

I have not checked my circuit diagrams yet regarding link to the ECU but when I did the retro fit I did not wire into the ECU; if seatbelt pushed in, a creates a simple continuous circuit which allows the seatbelt light to light up.

It is a Hella seat belt warning relay with chime - SAAB no 95 67 017 or Hella no 5SA 006 061-00. The relay is used I think in a SAAB 900 from late 80's to Mid 90's.

Sounds like a typical problem for a multimeter. Failing that, would your local Saab dealer be wiling to help?

Or maybe a Saab forum?

From car wiring standards
31 is battery ground
15 is ignition switched plus

L usually is LH indicator but I daubt it will be valid here.
Dieter

... L could be a lamp (output) ?
Any of the other could may be oilpressure switch (input) showing the engine is running.
Dieter

Dieter, You got the two pins I got! I will go on the SAAB forum to find out about the others. I suspect I have got better things to do than add bits to the MG but for some reason I cannot stop. I must like the punishment!

Thanks to all for the input.

Julian,
I wished you had listed the SAAB info earlier as I do have an EPC for SAAB. :-) and SAAB Forum access.
Here are some details from the EPC.

BUZZER SEAT BELT WARNING.
Wiring and fuses - Electrical distribution unit - Relays and fuses (1990 - 1993) Also valid for CV 1994.

Also
The 9563313 is the Original BUZZ relay that would buzz when the door was opened. Saab offered a CHIME relay that was much less bothersome. The part number for the CHIME relay is 9567017

So Far,
GF = ?
L = Load ?
1 (86) = coil ground
2 (85) = coil
3 (30) = V-BATTERY (+ve)
15 = Time Control or Ignition Switched?
31 = GND

Branko

LOL, Branko, great find :-)
Count up the ElecProd1.pdf to ElecProd2.pdf and ElecProd3.pdf also for some useful stuff :)
Dieter

Very interesting. Many thanks for the input.

I put a tester to the relay but I do not understand the results. These are the connections where I get a reading on the meter (ie I get a meter reading applying a + charge / - charge)

Connection 2 + Connection 1 -
Connection 1 - Connection 31 +
Connection 1 - Connection 15 +
Connection 31 + Connection L -
Connection L - Connection 15 +
Connection 15 + Connection GF -
Connection GF - Connection 3 +

On connection 3 + I get a momentary reading when - applied to 31 and 15.

Can one deduce from the above how one would wire in a chime?!!
