MG MGF Technical - Replacing brake hoses

Hi all

Have just bought a set of the steel braided brake hoses and I'm looking to install them.. Is it straight forward ? Just a matter of bleeding them as you go ?

Does it affect the ABS at all ?

Any advice would be appreciated

Thanx

Did u get them from B+G ? If yes then you also need the clips for the front ones. I just found this out after the car was in the garage. Would have been nice if B+G had mentioned I needed these as they don't come as part of the package ... hmmm ...

I got them from Mike

Are you talking about the p clips if so they are in my kit..

Did you change them yourself ?

I have bled brakes etc on other cars but wanted to be sure there were no problems doing it on my MGF as it has ABS.

Hi Stu - it's about time you bought a workshop manual. I know it's nearly 40 quid but that is nothing compared with what you (and I) are spending on "bits 'n bobs"

Stu, if you need access to a manual short term, I've got one (and am in Wokingham)....

Absolutely imperative to fit clips or tie wraps to keep the new hoses away from the rotating section at the rear of the hub. Mike Pollard's MGF Trohy race car had brake failure earlier this year for exactly this reason (hub chafed through hose) and he was not amused. Check nothing is touching by spinning the brake disc.

Stu, you need large P-Clips and small P-Clips. Large to secure to top wishbone/damper mount (available from B&G), small to inner arch (as supplied in my kit from Goodrich). Rears do not need any clips.
Access at the front can be a pain, need to remove battery to access nearside hose.
