MG MGF Technical - Rocking like a boat !

Help !
My car seems to have developed a slight swaying sensation. More noticeable at higher speeds. Not a lot but enough for me to think that there may be someting not quite right. Could it be that the hydragas suspension needs pumping up and if so where does one get it done....is it on all four corners and what should I expect to pay ?
ANY help appreciated. Please dont say its a major problem as I have just had to pay my tax bill !

Have you checked your tyre pressures? Even a slight variation can cause this effect and it is worth investing in one of the very accurate dial type pressure guages.

Thanks Chris
I will check the pressures tonight.

Paul,

This sounds rather like how my TF160 felt recently, kind of a gentle wiggling/swaying sensation as you say most noticeable at speed, i.e. on the motorway? In my case it turned out to be a worn track-rod arm bush on one of the rear wheels.

To check for this just jack the car up (each corner in turn) and try to move the wheel both vertically and horizontally. This was clearly noticeable on my car on the right rear wheel as horizontal movement. Car feels so much better now the track rod arm has been replaced - as you'd expect! :)

Worth jacking up the rear wheels and checking for wheel bearing play, a classic sign they are shot away is the swaying motion at speed.

Thanks everyone
