MG MGF Technical - Seat Belt Warning Light.
Can anyone tell me if my 1999vvc is fitted with the above light? It's not worked since I bought the car, but looking in the archive, there is a reference to this only being fitted to export cars. I don't really want to pull the dash a part to replace a bulb only to find its not fitted. Is there anyway to tell? There is definitely a window with the seatbelt warning sign in it. Thanks Dave :o)

Dave, Never seen it light up on my car... never even knew there was one... my guess is the instruments set for the F were "borrowed" from another rover car and this just wasn't used... Chris

There is no Seatbelt Warning Light functioning on export cars either! Not at least on cars in Europe. / Carl.

Japan only IIRC Dave :o) It is possible to impliment the lamp if you like - check out the archives, it has been done before! :o)

Australian F's have the seatbelt warning light. For such a simple safety warning device, I can't understand why any country would not want it working. Also whats the point of having seatbelt pre-tensioner systems, if you've forgotten to put your seatbelt on. I suppose it's only your life at risk....... Cheers, Branko.

Just checked with rover and although the window is in the instrument binnacle, there is no bulb. As people have stated, it's only on Japanese models. Very inscrutable!!! :o(

Hmm, I suppose you'll be saying the same about the low fuel light... Once I burnt 55 1/2 litres trying to make it come on, to no avail... ;-)

Branko - they probably saved 2p on every model sold by not fitting the bulb ;o)

Once I burnt 55 1/2 litres trying to make it come on, to no avail... ;-) And here I thought mine had a 50 litre tank :)

Mine works and it is so pretty - oops sorry I am Japanese Sorry just had to do that David

Is there actually anyway to get a low fuel light to come on then? is it just a case of no bulb or actually no light or anything at all back there? Cheers Chris

I don't think there is a low fuel warning light system at all. I made and fitted my own to my Jap import 96VVC. Bruce
