MG MGF Technical - Small coolant leaks

Hello everyone. For the last six months or so i notice small amount of coolant leaks on the plastic cover around the coolant tanks.I dont experience leaks after every drive but it happens sometimes.I have changed the cooalany cap twice but this hasnt solved the problem.I asked the service guys they say it is ok but i dont think so.My car is a 98 VVC no hgs before,16K km on the clock.Should i be worried about the leaks and how can i remedy this situation. Thanks
Phantom

Make sure that you are not overfilling the expansion tank - coolant should be just below the seam around the middle.

Could also be overheating? I don't know how the F cools itself in hot climbs (does the temp gague move off centre?)

Mine does the same since weeks.
Changed also the cap two times in the last month cause the level rose below the cap from missing inner pressure.
Coolant level is correct now just below maximum at the tank seam, but still stains on the surround.

I gave in and wash the surround from time to time to keep it clean ;)

Before anyone does, I cut that sh*t already. ;)

New cap is said to have a blue dot now. Any news about that ?

Hi all,
totally agree with Dieter . When the expansion tank is filled to the maximum mark it does let some minor fluid out around the bottom of the cap. Even more so if going for sprints or slalom where the content gets slashed around a lot ! I just wipe off the white stain now and then , the amount doesnīt really lower the coolant level - so it canīt be much that is leaking out. I think it gets out during the cooling phase when car is parked after a run. Then there will be a breathing of air into the tank and then also some droplets can pass the other way out....

Me too. Noticed after the Nurburgring, coolant level was raised but well below the filler cap when i switched off after a blast round the nordshleiffe <sp?> after a short while though the level started to raise until a little mist appeared out of the expansion cap. When it finally cooled down the level was back to normal but the top of the tank was a little wet.

Thanks guys.I am not overfilling the tank but after the replies i feel ok.As i said this thing goes on for about 6 months now and i have had no problems at all.I really love this car to bits and plan to keep for a loooong time that is why i care.Take care fellow f'ers.

Nordschleife, mate. :)
It's so easy, already 4 years old germans can spell this ;)
You need to get back in next year and practice both, the spelling and driving ... with the fixed downpipe.
Lesson #1, Grune Hoelle, Nordschleife, Rote Grutze. Mmmmhhh !! :)

@Phantom, good luck and keep it running.
