Seems to be Mike Search archive for evocative phrases like "petrol smell", "petrol fumes", "smelly car" etc. When I first got my F I printer about 50 pages from the archive about petrol fumes. |

Mike The smell may be common, but it is also not acceptable and curable. It's usually caused either by a dodgy vent pipe or carbon filter itslef. If your car is still under 3 years old, get your dealer to fix it under warranty. Chris |

Most silly solution to getting rid of fuel smell is said to be this way: - Remove the O-Ring from the purge-valve connection to the active-coal filter ;) This is for sure not allowed due to invironmental rules, cause it stops building up pressure inside the fueltank..... The standard other options can be looked up @ http://www.mgfcar.de/fueltank/index.htm Apology in advance, the site needs a review at any time. |

Cured the smell in my MGF by removing the piece of sponge wedged between the fuel tank and the bulkhead where the filler pipe connects to the tank - the sponge may be glued to the bulkhead. The smell will disappear in a week or two. If you want a high - sniff the sponge after you have removed it. |
