MG MGF Technical - Sounds good!

I only recently bought my mgf to replace an old peugeot 309, but being an essex boy, naturally the 309's stereo system was worth more than the rest of the car!

Now ive got all this stereo equipment getting dusty in the garage. Dont really want to install it all into the mgf, as the standard equipment sounds pretty good, but one thing I do miss is rear speakers.

Just wondered if anyone knew if there was a suitable place in the rear to drop a couple in? Im guessing not! But the MG's stereo offers you the chance to fade the front / rear speakers, so its worth asking!!

Thanks, and sorry to ask so many questions, but ive been waiting to get my hands on an MGF since 1997, so now I have one I cant stop fiddling with it!

Hi Nick,

You can fit rear speakers in the T bar behind the seats.

I assume you have a pre 2000 model, which does not have speakers already fitted.

You can cut holes for speakers, or buy a 2000 onwards T bar.

Wiring can be easily run along the central tunnel.

People have fitted amps behind the seats and even installed a sub unit in the passenger footwell and under the bonnet!

Good luck!

Hi Nick,

>What are the roadsters?<

We are a group of MGF (mainly) and Elise owners who meet up twice a month. We all tend to have quite modified cars and have the famous 'Scarlet fever' in our numbers! You will be made very welcome (assuming you have only one head and are a nice-ish person :-)) so you should not worry in the least about coming along. We meet on the first Thursday of the month at the Dick Turpin on the A127 and the third Thursday at the Halfway House also on the A127. The bulk of the guys (obviously included in 'the guys' are the girls) are there around 20.00. If you have any queries about your car or any problems with it, its probably the best place to go locally for suggestions or solutions. We vary in ages from 20 upwards and have male and female members. We also organise runs and tend to go to as many MG shows and events as possible.

Hope that answers your question and hopefully we'll see you at a meet soon?

Regards, Ian
