MG MGF Technical - spark plugs
can anyone help How hard is it to change the spark plugs on an mgf. never done it before could i have a step by step account please.. many thanks darren in mk
darren jeffery
Pretty straightforward Darren - see here: http://mgf.4mg.com/replace_sparkplugs.htm Be careful to re-torque the spark plugs correctly however - too loose and the spark plug will not be gas tight. Too tight and you'll stress the threads - potentially leading to failure and dramatic ejection of the spark plug from the head!

darren same as any other car once you get to the plugs. you should soon have mail.

John, the mgf.4mg.com is an old shadow site. I've long since used up my space allocation on it - hence the move to Stefan's server - but kept the site so folks following URLs in the BBS archives can still find the linked articles. The way to access the main menu is to enter via http://mgf.4mg.com/default.htm (You'll soon see how old it is)

thnx Rob hopefully Tim Jenner will spot this as well

Ah ha, thanks guys. Is the new ultimatemg site going to be back up again soon? Tim.
Tim Jenner
Yup, just as soon as I can establish an uplink to the new server... (attempted and failed last night :o( )

Use what the sparkplug giude tells you to - usually do up to 'snug' and then add n% where n is usually 90 degrees - but it depends entirely on the make of the plugs and the type of seal (crush washers take less degrees)

If you delve in the archive you will find Roger Parker's advice to move away from long life platinum tipped plugs to using 'ordinary' ones but changing them more frequently. jt
