MG MGF Technical - Sticky Situation.........

Ok, here's the thing. The passenger side door has a habit of sticking (dependant on weather / time of day / shape of the clouds etc.) meaning that you can not open it from the outside properly with out a. Yanking the door (not good) or b. opening the window first (better but not ideal as they are of the leccy variety) We know it's the seal but the dealership wanted to charge us £90 for the privilage of replacing it. So, is the part easy to replace & are they cheap to buy? Also the seal that runs along the bottom of the door on the drivers side has lifted, can this be 're-gluded' or does it have to be replaced.

Cheers again

You're sure it isn't the window that is rised too high, 'locking' the door into the seal. As this is more frequent situation.
Erik

I would agree with Erik, sounds like the classic example of a poorly adjusted window. It would appear that the dealer is angling for a bit of extra cash out of the deal. It is true that seals can need replacing after a number of years and that the MK2 seals are rather more substantial than the MK1 however the first port of call should be re-adjusting the window, it's a bit of a black art but not beyond a novice DIYer.

costs £5 for the part and it's an easy job!

Thanks Paul......I'd lost it.

MGF/TF FAQ - MGF DIY - Bodywork - takes you to Replacing broken window stops.

Helps if you have small hands ! all you need is the stop and the right sized allen key..45 minutes, then you can go and spend the £85 on something indulgent.
