MG MGF Technical - Sunvisors Change!?.

Hi All.

Is there a conversion for the standard MGF sunvisor,or will another model visor fit?, the Half Clip things are a waste of time, and dont want to replace like for like!.
Mark

Hi Mark
There was someone who fitted the Mazda MX5 sunvisors. These are a one piece visors but curved on the outer edge to facilitate the hood being secured.

Sorry I have no pictures though.

Not heard about this being done before David - but it ought to work given the similarity between the Mazda hood fixings and those found on the F :o)

Have you seen the result, and how well did it work?
Rob Bell

The early publicity pictures for the MGF (pre-production) showed full-width sun-visors, so it appears to be a very late decision to switch to icky bits of plastic.
Steve

Thanks Dave,

Will look at some MX5 ones( must be plenty of them in breakers yards) oops..... sorry.
Mark

Mark,

If you find a good solution let us know as this is something I've been wanting to look at for a while now.
If I discover anything will let you know.

Good luck!

You're right Steve, they did. But they were completely conventional, and would have been a pain to use in conjunction with the hood clips; they'd get in the way the whole time :o(

The Mazda option sounds more promising though - although whether they'll be a straight replacement for the MG items remains to be seen...

Rob

Not as much of a pain as getting blinded by the low winter sun, my visors are about as much use as a handbrake on a canoe!.
Mark

I agree - the flappy crappy sunvisors are pretty pants Mark. The MX items may be the way to do - assuming that they fit :o)

Mark,

You could always try the Kev & Tracy sunstrip approach :-p

Temp Visor Fix!

The flap you flick over locates into clip, on mine clip worked fine to hold flap closed , but would not work to hold flap open!.
First thought, rotate bracket which holds clip, so as clip works to hold flap open, but not closed( visor in normal up position will hold it closed), but bracket is not reversable :o( .

Then I noticed that bracket in visor holding open and closed clip, was sunk in slighly on open side!, which
meant that flap was hitting visor before clip would locate.

So, packed out bracket slightly, so is proud of visor and BINGO, flap clips in perfect every time, did same on other visor with same result :o).

Not the long term solution, but better than getting blinded every time the sun is low!.

:o) Smug Grin!!.
Mark

and better than getting your Scouse mates to nick a set from an MX5. Even Scousers have some pride!!!
JohnP

John.

WHO says I have got any Scouse mates, come to think of it, who says I have got ANY mates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.:o(
Mark

Mike (Mersea) I am going down the sunstrip approach as the flappy things ARE cr*p, but I shall leave my name off I think..... I won't let on my wifes' name is Sharon DOH!!!

I did fit one to a Rover Coupe I once had and it worked very well!!
