MG MGF Technical - Superlock Wire?

Does anyone know the easiest point to pick up the Brown-Pink superlock wire? I'm thinking of using it to pop a boot release solenoid.
M Clayton

???

just behind the 5AS in the centre console is probebly the easiest, but what are you planning - using the superlock signal to open the boot?

So you lock the car twice and the boot opens?
This sounds like a really bad idea as the boot will unlatch and not be obvious, but it will disarm the alarm!

I'm going to use the usual cabin switch for normal use. I don't tend to use the superlock (mainly because it doesn't work on the drivers side - The solenoid activates but the door doesn't deadlock). I thought it might be useful to be able to open the boot using the key remote and that seemed my only choice (I wouldn't want it to open every time I locked, or unlocked the doors).

I know this might sound dumb, but I think you would be better off fixing the drivers door, as the standard locking provides scant security even with the hood up.

making the boot accidently and invisiably open using the lock button is a recipy for disaster in two stages, firsly opening the boot disables the alarm in all zones, and secondly it switches on the boot light which will drain the battery.

as you have to have the keys in your hand to open the boot in either way I don't see what you'd really gain from this. You would have more options doing what others have done with a pushbotton inside the car that works with the ignition and handbrake on

Thanks Will, some valid points there - You've convinced me to stick with the button!

Shame you don't have a 2004 or later TF - these immobiliser ECUs are shared with the ZR and ZS - and include an additional boot-release function, albeit one unused on the TF...

Just thought of another problem with using the superlock wire to pop the boot (assuming the car was already locked and armed) - No doubt the alarm would go off as the boot-lock microswitch wouldn't be activated as I wouldn't be using a key!!

If you want to go down the route of a remote operated boot release, all is not lost if you don't mind having an additional remote.

Remote aftermarket central locking kits are still available - and probably pretty cheaply. eBay might be worth searching through, for example.

Thanks Rob - I managed to get a universal boot release from ebay (£14!)and I've successully installed (and tested) the solenoid - Just got to wire it up properly - I thought it might be fun to get it to operate from the remote. It's not essential and I think I'll still have the problem of setting the alarm off if I open it while the car is locked...

Oh well, it was just a thought!!
