MG MGF Technical - Tech-speed suspension

Last Tuesday Tech-speed fitted their suspension pack A and the gear linkage modification to my Trophy 160. The suspension has been transformed it's still firm but is now more compliant over bumps/potholes. Roadholding has improved and the TF rack improves the steering no end. It's probably the best engineered too, Tech-speed use Bilstein race gas dampers with their own road settings. The front and rear have different settings (the back is heavier than the front). Their workmanship is second to none and everything was washed before it was put back on the car. I thoroughly recommend them if anyone is thinking of upgrading their suspension. More details and pictures can be found on http://www.xpower-mg.com.
Blue Pocket Rocket

The question I'd have is have Techspeed already started working on the TF suspension and, would they be able to dramatically improve the TF160 set-up? I think I did send an email to Techspeed but did not get any response so I take it they're not quite ready on this. Does anybody know?

The chap from Techspeed (forgot his name) was at the Rockingham track day and I was asking him exactly that question.

He said that they had not done any work on the TF as no-one had asked for it. Presumably when the warranties start to expire they will do so.

Norman, you spoke to Roy Forde!

Obviously, all the work they've done so far has been on MGFs (and these have often been within the warranty period - so the fact that your car is within the warranty shouldn't put you off).

I imagine that Tech-speed would be keen to get hold of a TF to see what they can do with these cars - I'd expect that the dampers would be changed as the first step.

Stephane, I'd definitely recommend you chat with the lads at Techspeed regarding your requirements - like Blue Pocket Rocket, I can't recommend their workmanship or customer care highly enough :o)

If anyone manages to get hold of Techspeed I'd be interested to know the cost of a TF suspension upgrade but more importantly what the benefits are likely to be. I spotted a TF travelling the opposite direction today and knew it was a 160 from a distance, the cars looks seriously unsettled and bouncey (and feel the same). I know it's supposed to improve with use, but I'm sure a better setup could be found out-of-the-crate (like an Elise or an Impreza for example).

Stephane & others

You are better off ringing Techspeed rather than emailing them.

I am sure they will be doing work on TF eventually but as of the F the suspension on the TF is more stable due to shocks and dampers unlike the F with its hydrogas setup which if not set up correctly you will have a poor handling car and tyre wear problems.

Techspeed had years of experience with the F from the cup cars so give it a bit of time am sure something will come up.
