MG MGF Technical - TF HORN

Hi All, i purchased a TF last summer and have now realised the horn does not work, I have checked all the obvious things, i.e the horn itself works when connected directto battery, ive had the wheel off but nothing looks astray, . i cant however find a fuse or relay, any ideas your help would be appreciated.

ps the central locking alarm dosent work either.

It's almost certainly a relay in the Pektron SCU that's failed, they not difficult to replace if you're handy with a soldering iron. The SCU can be a sod to remove as it's held in place with security screws, it's similar to a torx with a pin in the middle but it's got 1 less flute than normal. I'd replace all 5 if you’re planning to keep the car for a while. Technozen sells them on eBay. See link below or search for item number 150972114944

It's mounted below the radio, to get access to it you need to remove the two panels in the foot wells that have the interior lights in them. The SCU is held in place by a metal strap that holds it up to a metal plate. You need to remove the metal strap which can be difficult if you don't have the correct security screw bit, I did mine by a combination of using a security bit that almost fitted and a pair of pliers on the head of the screw. It will be easier using the pliers if you bend up the ends of the metal strap. I did find one place that sold the security bit but I'd removed mine by then. You can replace the screws with M5 bolts it's then much easier to remove in future.
