MG MGF Technical - TF rear light cluster

Is there an answer to the annoying failure of rear bulbs non making proper contact in their holders? I have to check every couple of days to see what bulbs are not working, wiggle the bulbs etc to make contact. I have had the clusters out, increased the spring tension, cleaned every contact surface etc, but it still happens. The fronts are OK. My OH's MG-R 25 does the same thing.
Is it just a MG-R problem?

There obviously is an answer as my TF is 18 months old, 19000 miles including Pyrenees and a recent dash to Monaco and my bulbs have never lost contact.

Wish I knew what the answer was - just luck in my case.

Are you sure it is not the entire bulb holder assembly losing contact with the light holder?
My TF had no protective covers over the bulb holder as per the MGF I had previously and I think that putting stuff in the boot used to disturb the holder. A bit of gaffa tape solved the problem.

Thanks, aware of that one.
Must be me then on both cars!!

I've had the same problem on every car I've owned except the F and the cause was always water getting into the boot. On some Fs, the lamp or boot seals have been known to leak, so check for damp under the boot liner then if you find any traces, check the foam seals around the lamp clusters and the various grommets are properly in place.

Thanks. Bone dry in both cars!! Must be unlucky then. taking the bulb out and wiggling it about seems to cure it temporarily. Never known it in any other car. I also have a crappy Jap 4X4 which has submerged lights on occasions - no probems ever!!!
Must be a MG-R thing.

Touch wood, not ever had this problem on my F either. Had a similar problem with our old 214Si though - the brake light would intermittently stop working. Nothing a good thump would not sort though. ;o)
