MG MGF Technical - TF Suspension Noises

Just been out for a drive and over potholes and bumps the front suspension makes a very harsh metalic crashing noise.

Worried again.....

Don't be, there were some really rough roads in Portugal, like 6" drops with no warings, during the launch and we generated several significant 'clangs'. Certainly the cars suffered no ill effects from these roads and it appeared this is a characteristic of the new design.

Hi Matt!

Got my new MG-TF 135 two weeks ago. I noticed the same harsh metalic noise on rough roads. The dealer said, that he has just received a new "info letter" (not an official recall) from MG/Rover concerning the front suspension. They checked it and - that's what they told me - mounted some kind of rubber tubes that prevents the suspension struts (or suspension turrets) producing that noise. Sorry for the simple description - I'm no expert.

Hi Kristian

A group of us will be in Berlin for the MG Club Berlin Rally - will you be there?

Dates 05 to 08 September at the Courtyrad Hotel Teltow.

Test drove a TF160 2 weeks ago and got a nasty noise from the front on a bumpy section of roughish surfaced road. Wife said I was going too fast, I said it was the car and our F would not have done it there. Mentioned it to salesmanager (it was his car) - "not noticed anything myself so far"

Hi Ted

Sorry, but I don't think so. Since I'll have holliday the first three weeks in September I expect to be on tour in switzerland. :-)) Or in Denmark. Depends on the weather, though.

Hope you'll be able to cross the river Elbe - without three hours of stop-and-go due to the flooded terrain and the damaged bridges. Perhaps it will be better in a week...

Have a nice journey, Kristian
