MG MGF Technical - TF version of TT FXtreme pipe

As a result of high interest I have been able to start the production of the Mark 2 TT Fxtreme pipe.
Thanks guys!...and ladies.

Well as one of the buyers has a TF160 ...You are going to LOVE this...

1. I have ordered 2, yes only 2 TF compatible pipes be made!!
I might make more later but we will see!
2. The whole exhaust pipe will come in shiny polished stainless BLING BLING
3. If 2 1/4 ends isnt big enough, you can have the MUTHA of all tail pipes finishers fitted if you like, for an extra £50 3" diameter in more polished stainless.
4. I have modified the original marginally for better sound and for strength/longevity.
5. Lifetime guarantee too!

If anybody with a TF is interested in getting one f these monsters they should let me know quickly.

Mwahahahahaaa

Neil, any idea of the BHP gains on the 120, 143 and 160 versions with this system fitted? Or is it simply a question of sound?
Terry

Terry, I think that the advantage is mostly a question of sound. We found that both the Miltek Supersports and the Mike Satur Daytona performed better (+5bhp), whilst the TT FX did okay (+3bhp). Interestingly, the torque gain for the TT FX was similar to the Mike Satur Daytona - but lower in the rev range.

Presumably, Neil is making the new batch of pipes to a similar specification to the original - which was loud! Yimmy would hear me parking the car from the garden on the other side of the house... IMO the original sounds its best at idle and then when you blip the throttle...
Rob Bell

Thanks Rob that was on your MPi wasn't it?

Loud but beautiful. Not just load and annoying or even chavvy like some.

The new batch are a very similar spec to the originals but unlike the originals they will be in shiny polished stainless all over!
They feature a straight through box with no chambering or baffles unlike just about every other pipe out there. Given the dynamics of the gasflows the cambered pipes do well to improve performance, the OEM box was so heavily chambered it was a miracle any gas got out!!

I originally designed the pipe for extreme applications, for instance superchargers or turbos fitted that needed huge gasflow capabilities. Unfortunatley, the K series application in the MGF doesnt really lend itself to these mods too well but the resulting tone of these pipes turned out to be just stunning.

The increase in torque at lower revs is likely to be due to the reduction of back pressure in the TT Fx pipe.

Neil

Neil,

<< 2. The whole exhaust pipe will come in shiny polished stainless BLING BLING >>

Is that just for the TF version?? Or can I expect BLING on my F !!!

Fiona :-D (drooling with anticipation!)
Fiona

Fiona all the F ones get polished too!

BLING it is!

Neil

Blingo !

Can I have a 3 incher please?

Fiona :-P
Fiona

Fiona it's another £50 for the 3" ends

N
Neil

Neil,

That's fine - put me down for the 3"

It works out more expensive If I buy the trims from Halfrauds or somewhere similar to put on the 56mm pipe - so may as well have the 3 inchers welded on.

Cheers
Fiona :-D
Fiona

Sorry to rob the thread but out of curiosity which is the loudest exhaust for the F, is it like a F355 wailer?
Luis
Luis Pereira

Luis the pipes sounds more like a TVR. a deeper sound than a Ferrari.

OK Fiona message received. you are right of course and also Haldfords ends are not made in UK out of the Stainless Steel of the apocalypse, no more like chrome plated bottom droppings
Neil

Luis, the TT FX was comfortably the loudest system we tested - I have the figures somewhere - but we're talking about 2 dB more than the nearest 'competitor'
Rob Bell

Ahh the advantages of straight through pipes!
the cat still takes a lot out of the noise though

without the cat it's aural nectar
