MG MGF Technical - TF160 'AP' Brake Pads

Just been quoted £105.00 + VAT for a set of official pads for my TF160's front AP-style brakes. Is that about right? Seems a bit steep to me.

Simple answer would have to be no way!

Try this instead, much better.

Hope this helps.

Kris.

Just realised that the link I've included already has the brake pads you need in the basket.

Have a look at the basket contents on the top left of the screen.

Thanx Kris, I know I can get pads cheaper, but my question was about the official MGR parts.

(I hope the above doesn't sound snotty, it's not meant to!!!)
S R Kenyon-Edwards

Not a problem, not snotty at all. :-)

In which case, afraid I can't really help.

Personally, I never got on with the standard pads and general feel of the brakes so very quickly upgraded the front discs, pads and all brake pipes.
Kris

...yeah, probably do something similar once the warranty's up!

Before becoming a convert to Carbon Ceramic pads, I used to buy OE pads from Mike Satur, IIRC around £80 a set

I have seen the MGR OEM pads for the AP calipers quoted before - seemed very expensive to me.

Thinking about it - I'm sure it was somebody else who loved the feel of the APs and were just doing their first replacement. IIRC they are more than double the price of the non AP caliper pads.

I have Mintex 1144@£89.30inc vat.for the AP's
mike

Mintex 1144's - a great way to go for the APs :-)

OK...so the MGR OEM pads have now been fitted.

What is current wisdom regarding "bedding-in" new pads, in particular, the AP-style pads?

Avoidance of hard braking....lots of gentle braking.....or several hard applications??
S R Kenyon-Edwards

Gentle use for the first few hundred miles is the usual practice, although if you only do motorway journeys then make that a few more... Even high performance pads like M1177 or M1144 don't need any special bedding in according to Mintex.
