MG MGF Technical - Tracking and a lowered F

I have a lowered F, lowering knuckles fitted.

Needs new front tyres (uneven wear.) How does lowering alter the tracking settings. What'd they be for my lowered car?
DF Gardenia

The short answer is yes - having a lowered car puts greater load on the inner edge of the tyre through a combination of camber and altered toe-angle characteristics.

There are a number of alternative settings you can try - I'd probably start off with 0 degrees toe at the front, and either 0 degrees 5 minutes or 0 degrees 10 minutes toe-IN at the rear depending on whether or not you have up-rated the rear tie-bar bushes (spacer or PU replacement).

Rob,
what are the tracking figures for a TF lowered with X-power Eibach springs ?
Thanks,
Fabrice
Fabrice

I'd probably go for standard Fabrice - unless you're getting specific tyre wear problems, in which case I'd go for 0 degrees 5 minutes toe-IN
Rob Bell

So, from what you're saying, Rob, is that - given that my F has uprated rear tie-bar bushes - the set up should be 0 degrees toe at the front, and 0 degrees 10 minutes toe-in at the rear.

Sorry, if I'm being obtuse, but I just need to make sure.

FWIW, the car that was chasing Rob's around Bedford Autodrome and keeping a tidy line when his did a bit of off-roading was running 5 minutes toe at the front, parallel rears, with poly bushes.
I've previously run parallel front 5 minutes toe in at the rear, and there's no discernable difference.
Under the current setup I'm very happy with the evenness of tyre wear, kinda resentful that years spent on MGR settings has cost a lot in ruined tyres without any benefit to handling, IMHO
Mike Hankin

No worries DF - I'd go for 0 front, 0¼5' toe in at the rear :o)

I, like Mike, like 0¼5' toe in at the font too - but haven't got this at present (Techspeed set my car up at each service, and I haven't had cause to re-set the geometry since)
Rob Bell

Thanks Rob,
so this is 0 degree 5' toe in (TOTAL for BOTH wheels) at the front, and the same at the rear ?
Fabrice

Total should be 0º10' front and rear :o)
