MG MGF Technical - tracking issue

Hi guys, sounds like a pretty daft question....but i had a blow out on the motorway the other day.

One rear tyre now needs replacing, after i have replaced the tyre (goodyear gs-d3 to match the other...sickening as loads of tread left), do i need the tracking done?

The last time I had the tracking done was at Mike saturs when the car was lowered, and i don't think it was set to the manufacturer standard settings?

If the tracking does need to be done, what are the settings, will a local garage be able to do it?

Thanks!

Usually, if just replacing tyres, there is no need to get the tracking re-checked. However, as you had a blow-out on the motorway (sounds scary!) there may be a case for getting the tracking checked if the suspension was put under a significant load?

Assuming that your using standard tracking settings at the moment (perhaps check with Mike as he was the last one to check them for you), then any competent garage should be able to perform the work for you, and the data needed will be on file, no worries.

Andrea,
Interesting. I had a GS-D3 blow out at about 4000 Miles. Luckily I was only doing about 40 approaching the Motorway access roundabout. It was split 210 degrees around the outer wall. I had it returned to Goodyear who told me to collect my money back for the replacement tyre.

Thanks for comments, luckily i was driving at low speeds as there was heavy traffic. Under investigation, it turns out that it was a screw that puncutured the tyre!!!!!!!

Hi there, Further to my comment above, I have had my 1 rear tyre replaced following a puncture, and now the car pulls quite severely to the left mostly on the motorway at high speeds. I Didn't have the tracking done. Do you think this is the problem. Am aware that the new tyre will need "scrubbing" in, I have done about 150 miles with the new tyre, but it is getting worse not better. Any thoughts? Could i have done any damage to the rear suspension after the puncture?

Andrea, presumably you have had the tyre pressures checked accuratley? 26psi front and 28psi rear and the new tyre is the same spec as the others?? If the car was jcked up on the suspension then the rear TCA could have been damaged.
Good luck, Mike.

Andrea, normally it's good practice with the F to replace both tyres on the same axel at the same time. Make sure they are at least the same tyres on the rear, and that they're the same sizes (the 205/15/45 bit).

Sorry andrea I didn't read all the posts properly. Can't be my suggestion as you have had both tyres done.
