MG MGF Technical - Trophy Spoiler

Has anyone bought one of the Trophy style front spoiler that keep appearing on Ebay for around £45. I'm just concerned whether it fits properly to a standard 1997 MGF bumper. I suppose the phrase, you get what you pay for springs to mind. I bought a stainless steel flexible exhaust sections of Ebay some time ago for around £45, I thought I'd got a bargain, but now my car sounds like a VW Beetle which is very very annoying.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Any indication of the manufacturer of these splitters Darren? If Smith & Deakin, the quality is okay :o)

No I don't know who the manufacturer is. I understand they are a copy of the original spoiler and made in glass fibre. I thought somebody out there might have bought and fitted one recently.

I recently bought one from Mike Satur and it fitted well, all I had to do was add a little filler to the edge at the top of the spoiler before I painted it. Probably me being too fussy!!

I do seem to get a few stone chips though - not a fault of the spoiler but maybe because it is fibreglass? the front of the car has no stone chips so maybe the paint adheres differently to the different materials!

Smith and Deakin front spoilers are a bit more expensive (£52.50 ex. shipping). Maybe if they are ordered in a larger number. Tried to get 5 of them, but it's the same price....

Years ago, I bought them for £25.00 (ex. shipping).

I bought one about June time this year, if it's still the same guy selling them then they're actually quite good. The only thing I did before i had it painted was to clean up and make good the edges that you don't really see because they're hidden up behind the arches.
It bonds on really well if you use some quality bonding sealer and i also bolted it through under the arches.
Also I seem to remember that the part arrived damn quickly after I sent PAYPAL payment.
