MG MGF Technical - Trophy Spoiler or Spliter?

I am hoping to treat the F to the TechSpeed lower treatment at the next service (couple of months), cost about £220+vat. Does this on its own stop the front end becoming light at high speed? I would like to go for the full TechSpeed treatment but its just too dam expensive as I need a few other bits doing as well.

If it does not completely stop the lifting it is it best combined with a Trophy Spoiler or a K&H style Splitter?

Steve,

I went through the same thought as you and from the answers on this BB I understand that the Splitter is probably slightly better than the spoiler, But I personally think the spolier looks better.

Some people have fitted both and I am toying with the idea of the Spoiler and a Laguna splitter under that.

Hi Steve,

I can definately vouch for the benefits of the K&H splitter.
Fitted one of those a few months ago on my F and the difference is huge, no noticable front end lift at all and the car feels rock solid at speed (within the law of course), even on the blast round Silverstone at MG80.
The suspension is as standard on my car with no improvements or lowering carried out (yet).
Can't comment on the Trophy splitter as I have never driven a car with one fitted, but I'm sure someone will be along in a mo to sing their praises.

Steve,

I got a KH splitter fitted to my '98 F very early on, but to be honest never really had a problem with front end lightness or stability and so didn't really notice any difference.

However, when I had the Techspeed suspension it was like driving a different car. How much of this could be attributed to the lowering knuckles, the tracking, the Bilstein dampers or the 4-nipple job on the hydragas I'm afraid I can't say, as it was all done in one hit (poor wallet).

My guess, however, is that the Bilsteins are a vital ingredient as these are set up uniquely to Techspeed's own specification - one that derived from their experience of setting up the Cup cars for racing, yet was adjusted for road use.

Out of intrest how far do either the splitter of the trophy spoiler extend back under the car?

Steve,

I've just emailed you a photo that will hopefully answer that question for you. It's of the underside of my front bumper showing the splitter and its six fixing points.
