MG MGF Technical - Tweeting Like a Bird.

Hi everyone,
Just been down to Cornwall for a great weekend.

When decelerating in any gear down to about 1700rpm
There’s a noise from the back which sounds like birds tweeting! I’ve tried to get the car to make the same noise by just revving the engine but no luck.
Has anyone got an idea??? :o(

The rear suspension turrets made that sort of noise before they gave way.!
Andrew Regens

I hope not Andrew, The car has only done 20,000 miles
The noise is very localised between 1900 - 1700 rpm

I'm thiking it sounds like a dry rubber?

Guess I'm going t obe under the car next weekend!
DB Ferris

Could it just be the exhaust? Those of us old enough to remember the DBD34 from the early 60s still quiver at the twittering from the pipe on a trailing throttle.
JohnP

Yeah could be John.
There was an after market stainless exhaust fitted when I bought the car.
Sounds great, just the write noise.
Guess I can put up with it. It's not that loud (compared to the exhaust it's self)
Just sounds like a trim phone that needs to be answered LOL :o)

I had a lovely stereo whistling tweeting coming from my week-old X-Power exhaust on the twisty Cornish back roads last year. Tended to be as I changed down and the revs dropped going into a sharp bend. I loved it but haven't reproduced it very often since so will have to take another ride down to Cornwall sometime.

My X-Power pipe whistled a bit at the beginning as well but I suspect it has now coked up a little bit. The whistle has gone but the full throttle at 5k sound has become addictive. Glenshee resounded to it at the weekend but I was overpowered by Paul's Cat with Kwacka 1300 engine and straight thru.

Ive had this very annoying noise for some time, about 5 yrs I can't find anyone who knows what it is. Noise not there on start up from cold, but after 2 miles noise there as I go up and down through 1700 rpm. Sounds to me like a cam belt (front or rear vvc )making a 'warbling' noise.Had noise investgated at Brown & Gammon but they did not know what causes it.
