MG MGF Technical - Tyre Pressures

I have Goodyear F1 DS2 on the front and DS3 on the back 24/28 tyre pressures.
Can anyone tell me if increasing the pressure will stop side wind sway on the motoways and if so
what pressures do people recommend?

Dave.

I run 28 psi all round on my Trophy (Tech-speed recommendation) so try that. Also very worthwhile is fitting the KH or Trophy splitter (B&G or MGF Centre). You may also find an improvement when you have D3s all round.

Yeah.
When i first bought the car (99vvc) the pressures had been set at 28/32 which seemed high according to the manual.

I wonder if putting them back up will help?
Is there any danger of a blow out at speed if they are increased??

I would stick to 28 psi all round. Increasing the pressure will not put you in any danger. And consider the splitter.
Blue Pocket Rocket

I run my Toyo T1-R's at 30psi all round on the road, but with our low speed limits not a problem. On a trackday 36 to 40psi depending on tempature. I also have a splitter and noticed a huge improvment at speed once fitted.

Andrew,
So what are the benefits of raising the pressures???

Dave
In the Trophy handbook tyre pressures are 24 front and 36 rear. 36 at the back is too high and tends to wear out the middle of the tyre as well as being to firm. Increasing the front to 28 gives better directional response.
Blue Pocket Rocket

I second BPR's tyre pressure recommendation. I use either 28 or 30psi all round, depending on the tyre fitted.
Rob Bell

Just changed the pressures to 26/32 after speaking to Goodyear.
Been blasting around for an hour and there's no "tram lining" and she sticks like a limpit!

I'll take on board your comments and may increase the fronts to 28

Thanks
